All music classes for young children are taught by Julie Seal, a trained and licensed Kindermusik Educator
We will shake the maracas and beat the bongos. We’ll scrape the rhythm sticks and play the xylophones. Singing and dancing, marching, skipping and jumping. We will swing and then quietly rock to a lullaby, smile, laugh and read a story. There is a physical and emotional connection to the whole lesson.
What to expect from my Kindermusik classes
The class, whichever the age, begins and ends with a regular ‘Hello’ and ‘Goodbye’ song, chosen for the age of the children in mind. Each year level has a different welcoming and finishing song. The children become so familiar with these songs that they are often the first ones they begin to sing for, me. At home, however, they will usually sing a wider variety of the music we present to them.
Each set of Units, Cuddle & Bounce, Sing & Play, Wiggle & Grow, Laugh & Learn, Move & Groove and the family classes, run to their own specific routine (each is different and developmentally age appropriate for the cognitive level of your child).
The children very quickly work out the routine of their class. They learn by repetition, watching, copying and develop their own ideas (called scaffolding). When the class over and we have sung goodbye and shoes are on, there is usually a stamp for their hand, or a sticker for their shirt, to signify it is home time.
Kindermusik has developed all the five year level sets with experienced educators, musicians, psychologists and the latest child developmental research at the core of the writing.
For the baby and toddler, they will recognize tunes and words, do actions with you, enjoy a lap-bounce and kick and gurgle and smile when they hear you sing something familiar to them.
For the toddler and preschooler, language development is often at the forefront, and Kindermusik classes expand language, numbering, and many of the movements that they are trying to master.
For the older preschooler and prep child, creative play, the expansion of their ideas, the learning with each other, the musical, language and cognitive development that is available, is what you want to see and will appreciate in your child.
Digital Home Materials are made available to you through the Kindermusik website. You will need to establish a user name and account. Once you have received an email from them, instructions will be available and you will be able to download all the songs, the story, lots of activities and the interactive video field trip for your use. You will get a new set of Digital Home Materials for EVERY unit that you do. It is a great resource and used regularly through the week, expands you and your child’s enjoyment of and learning from the classes. Remember, you are your child’s first and best teacher.
You can use the music in the car, at a downtime at home, with grandparents. You will see how the Kindermusik curriculum enriches your child’s experiences, develops their singing and pitch exploration and encourages creative play, movement and the development of many different ideas.
